Interop 2009 was a memorable event that led to HP eventually acquiring 3Com. 3Com had not attended Interop the previous five years. Amy Peraza, a Senior Marketing Director at the time, explained the impact that this launch had for the company:
The trade show was extraordinary. We decided to attend in January when it was only four months away, a short timeframe to get show and booth activities done for something as big as Interop. It was also the only time the H3C website featured our press release on their site. Importantly, behind the scenes, we were redefining our entire enterprise portfolio. The customer event at Interop hosted over 80 customers from a nowhere customer base and ended the naysayers that 3Com was a dying company.
